SOMERVILLE, NJ — Today, Tom Kean Jr. quietly released a new Periodic Transaction Report. What did it show? Six new stock trades in July — even cashing in on Google and Stryker, while he sits on the House Energy and Commerce Committee. And despite Congressman Kean’s best efforts to tell us otherwise, his signature is still on the bottom of the document and he has not fulfilled his campaign promise to place his assets into a blind trust.
“Tom Kean Jr. promised us four years ago that if elected, he would ban congressional stock trading and move all of his assets into a blind trust. Instead, he has become one of the most prolific stock traders while voting to take healthcare away from New Jerseyans and drive up costs for all of us. My husband and I divested all of our individual stocks already because I want New Jerseyans to know exactly who I fight for,” said Rebecca Bennett.
REMINDER: During his first campaign for Congress, Kean Jr. promised his constituents that he would move his millions in personal assets into a blind trust. He has failed to deliver on that promise and throughout his time in Congress has traded more than $3 million worth of individual stocks. He continued to play the stock market during his four month absence, making 18 trades in the month of June alone.
