New Jersey’s CD7 Congressional Primary Frontrunner Rebecca Bennett Holds Commanding 21-Point Lead, Poll Shows
The poll also shows Bennett, Navy Veteran and former Healthcare Leader, has built a broad coalition spanning the Democratic spectrum

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – A new survey conducted by Impact Research May 11-13, shows Navy helicopter pilot, healthcare leader, and mom of two, Rebecca Bennett, with a commanding 21-point lead in the NJ-07 Democratic primary.

As primary voters are becoming engaged in this election and the candidates are communicating, Bennett leads the field with 36% of the vote, while no other candidate exceeds 15% (36% Bennett / 15% Shah / 13% Varela / 12% Roth / 22% undecided). Bennett is building a broad coalition and leads across gender, race, education, and ideology, as well in all of the district’s counties.

Bennett is the most popular candidate in the field and the only one converting her favorability into vote share. Additionally, among voters who can identify both Bennett and 2nd place candidate, Tina Shah, Bennett is winning by a 3 to 1 margin. A result of her durable support and overwhelmingly positive profile among democratic primary voters.

After simulating communication in an informed vote exercise, the race does not meaningfully change – indicating that Bennett is and will continue to consolidate support (Bennett maintains her lead – 43% Bennett / 22% Shah / 10% Varela / 14% Roth / 10% undecided) amongst the primary electorate in NJ-07 as they hear from her on broadcast TV, digital, cable, and in the mail in the final two weeks.

“The poll confirms what we’ve known all along, primary voters are looking for a candidate who has what it takes to beat Tom Kean Jr.,” said campaign manager Om Savargaonkar. “Rebecca Bennett is the candidate who has proven she can build a winning coalition and flip this seat from red to blue.”
