Nonpartisan Race Rater Inside Elections Shifts NJ-07 Rating from Toss-Up to Tilt Democrat As Momentum Builds Behind Rebecca Bennett

Ratings change cements NJ-07 as one of Democrats’ best pick up opportunities in the entire country

Bridgewater, NJ – Today, nonpartisan race rater Inside Elections moved New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District from Toss-Up to Tilt Democrat – a significant marker of the strength of former Navy helicopter pilot, healthcare leader, and mom of two Rebecca Bennett’s campaign.

In response to the major ratings change, Rebecca released the following statement:

“This rating change reflects what I’m hearing at every door and every event across this district: families want a representative who actually shows up and fights for us. Tom Kean Jr. started failing this community long before he physically went missing. He is a career politician who continues to trade stocks in Congress and has shown us time and time again that he is accountable to Donald Trump and Donald Trump only, not the residents of our district. I served my country in uniform for over fifteen years in the military, and I know what it means to put country over party and service over self. I plan to bring that servant leadership to Congress when we flip this seat, and I will fight for New Jersey families as hard as I fight for my own.”

Inside Elections is one of the nation’s primary nonpartisan election forecasters. The shift to Tilt Democrat demonstrates that this seat is one of the best pick up opportunities for Democrats in the entire country.

“Former Navy helicopter pilot Rebecca Bennett led Kean by 4 points, 47-43 percent, in a poll conducted May 24-26 by Z to A Research on behalf of 314 Action, a Democratic super PAC. Kean hasn’t been seen or cast a vote in three months, with little explanation from his staff other than to say he’s recovering from a medical issue. Kean is an overperformer who has a brand in this wealthy, educated district, but the longer his absence persists, the more difficult it will be for Republicans to hold on here. Move from Toss-up to Tilt Democratic.”

Rebecca Bennett, Democratic Nominee for Congress in NJ-07, is a former U.S. Navy helicopter pilot, officer in the Air National Guard, business leader in healthcare, and mom of two. Rebecca served in the Navy for over a decade as a helicopter pilot and aircraft commander. After serving her country for over fifteen years in the military and making waves in healthcare innovation, Rebecca is running to unseat Tom Kean, Jr. to build a better future for our community. As a mom to two young girls, Rebecca understands first-hand the challenges of balancing work & family while navigating inflation and the rising cost of living.
