SMART-TD Union Endorses Rebecca Bennett for Congress
Cites Bennett’s Focus on Gateway and One Seat Ride
SOMERVILLE, NJ — Today, the Sheet Metal Air Rail and Transportation Workers Union (SMART-TD) announced that they are endorsing Rebecca Bennett for Congress because of her commitment to supporting labor unions and focus on improving transit throughout New Jersey.
“SMART-TD is proud to endorse Rebecca Bennett as she runs to represent New Jersey’s Seventh District. Rebecca is committed to working together to complete the Gateway Tunnel, and after decades of waiting, deliver a one-seat ride to New Jerseyans along the Raritan Valley Rail Line. She will also stand up against the attacks against collective bargaining to make sure that our rail workers here in New Jersey have a safe workplace, fair wages, and the right to join a labor union,” said Jared Cassity, National Safety & Legislative Director for SMART TD.

Rebecca Bennett, Democratic Nominee for Congress in NJ-07, is a former U.S. Navy helicopter pilot, officer in the Air National Guard, healthcare leader, and mom of two. Rebecca served in the Navy for over a decade as a helicopter pilot and aircraft commander.
